Job Description


The primary purpose of the Chemist is to independently perform pharmaceutical analyses in the laboratory using analytical instrumentation and compendial methods and procedures.

The opportunity:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of samples, and compile data for documentation of test procedures.
    • Run lab experiments and record data in laboratory notebooks with accuracy and completeness
    • Adhere and comply with SOPs and protocols
    • Calculate results as required in compendial methods and procedures.
    • Perform quality control and ensure compliance to customer specifications.

  • Perform a wide variety of research laboratory tasks and experiments, make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain laboratory equipment, and understand the analyses/methods performed on them.
    • Gas Chromatography (FID/HS)
    • Liquid Chromatography (HPLC, UPLC, IC)
    • Titration/Auto-titration/Karl Fischer
    • UV-Vis Spectrophotometry
    • FT-IR Spectrometry

  • Laboratory Environment
    • Maintain clean, healthy and organized laboratory
    • Perform glassware washing, ordering chemicals and supply checks
    • Perform instrument maintenance, calibration & validation and routinely updates instrument calibration and maintenance logs

  • Ensure Compliance and Prepare Appropriate Documentation
    • Document deviations and assists in investigations and implementation of CAPA and continuous improvements
    • Ensure compliance with GLP, cGMP (FDA, EPA, OECD, JMHW), ICH and ISO 17025 regulations
    • Assist with audits by regulatory agencies and clients

Job Requirements

  • Working knowledge of cGMP/GLP, ICH, USP/NF, FDA regulations
  • Excellent communications skills; fluent English (oral & written) required
  • Strong work ethic and reliable
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Able to work under pressure and successfully function in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required

  • Minimum of 4 years of laboratory experience. HPLC experience is required
  • Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry (preferred) or a Science related field, with knowledge of common laboratory techniques
